The Army Crawl
There's really not much to report today. It's been a lazy Sunday, although fortunately not as lazy as yesterday. Matt and I got a few things done, like vacuuming, laundry, changing sheets, stuff like that.

The only thing hindering us was Patrick. He was clingy and annoying. We couldn't leave him in his pen at all, even if we were in the same room with him and interacting with him. Any time he played on the floor while not in the pen, he crawled straight to either me or Matt and worked on pulling himself up into our laps (he hasn't quite mastered that feat yet).

At one point I had picked him up to move him somewhere and sat down with him for a few seconds. The moment I hit the couch, he started screeching in displeasure. That's his new way of expressing himself, instead of the relatively tame screams. It makes me just want to scream right back at him. I was actually glad when bedtime rolled around tonight so I could get a few minutes away from him and that screech.
The one good thing that came out of the frustrating day is that in his own frustration, Patrick figured out how to pull himself up on his pen. We missed capturing it on camera, but I will make a point to do so next time. It was also only up to his knees, but that's the farthest he has ever made it completely on his own before. I think if we had been able to stand the screeching long enough, he would have eventually pulled himself all the way up to his feet.
When we let him have free reign to crawl wherever he wants, he almost always crawls up to the entertainment center to watch his reflection in the glass. He finds it fascinating. Fortunately we've baby-proofed that area pretty well, so he's free to stare at his baby friend all he wants.

Ok, here's what you've all been waiting for, the first video of Patrick trying out his army crawl. It's starting to get really fast. I think the army crawl looks much better now that he has his army-style buzz cut and camo pants.

Go Patrick! Go Patrick! In no time you'll be running after him. You'll blink and be like hey where'd he go.

That's so cute! Seems like it must be more difficult than actually crawling, though.

Sorry about your frustrating day. I have those a lot, but I thought they went away at some point. :)

Look at the boy go! He's becoming pretty adept at getting around. Patrick seems to be developing the skill of mobility pretty fast all of a sudden. I love the video.

The best part of the video is the triumphant movie music in the background. How appropriate.
